Blue Monday

Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January (typically the third Monday of the month) claimed to be the most depressing day of the year. It was 16th January this year.

The weather was grim and mood was not that great because of the things going on in the life lately. As action beats discontent, I decided not to surrender to the circumstances and do some clear-out and make some money in the process. Enter Music Magpie and We Buy Books. I sold over £86.00 worth of books and made lots of space on my bookshelf.

Now that i have received money, I thought I will do a quick review of my experience. It was easy to find the value of the books, using the app but I had issues organising the collection – they do it through Hermes and the lady who came to collect the parcel refused to take it, saying it was too heavy, similar experience at nearest drop-off location. I went back to We Buy Books and they kindly generated two new labels and I had to split the package and print-off the labels. Hassle but was worth it as it did the trick.

If you are thinking to selling your old books, these are the great sites to get rid of some clutter and make some money but I suggest you read their condition guidelines HERE . I lost some money on the grounds that few pages in the books were underlined/highlighted. I wish this was made clear in the app before the transaction was complete, as I had to pay to get my books sent back to me! Which was, in one word frustrating.
