I am always on the lookout for ways to create easy and quick wall art and in some random browsing I came across this tutorial on Our Humble Abode for herringbone art and instantly decided to create it using scrapbook paper but ended up using pre-cut quilling strips as it was taking sooo long to cut pieces and patience is not my strength!
- quilling strips/scrapbook paper/pattered paper
- Watered down glue or mod podge
- foam brush
1. Depending on size of your canvas, cut your scrapbook paper into pieces approximately 1″ x 2″ or cheat (like me!) and use pattered quilling strips which were 1 cm wide.
When you’re done, you will have something that looks like this…
3. Put the canvas face down and one by one, get rid of extra paper and spread a layer of Mod Podge down onto your canvas to seal the paper in place.
What do you think? How would you customise it? I There are so many possibilities, herringbone pattern can be made using, magazine pages, marbled paper or cut up water colour paintings!
